Gabrielle Fialkoff being selected as Bill De Blasio's inaugural chairwoman

Bill de Blasio has some fancy friends - many of which he has appointed to his inauguration committee.Gabrielle Fialkoff, who is the president and chief operating officer of Haskell Jewels, has been chosen by the New York mayor-elect to act as his Chair of Inauguration. In this position, Fialkoff will lead the politician's inauguration committee, a star-studded, 73-member group consisting of "Sex and the City" actress Sarah Jessica Parker, "Boardwalk Empire" actor Steve Buscemi, "Dead Man Walking" actress Susan Sarandon, singer-songwriter Harry Belafonte and more. As de Blasio's Chair of Inauguration, Fialkoff will help plan the mayor-to-be's official welcome, which will begin with the official swearing in at midnight on December 31, as well as the ceremonial swearing in that follows the next day."This will be a celebration that represents all of New York," Fialkoff said in a statement.In addition to planning for those major events, Fialkoff will also be responsible for overseeing any other related celebrations and events throughout the city.Before entering the fashion industry, Fialkoff, who has held her position at Haskell Jewels since 2002, was involved with politics, working as the finance director for Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate race in 2000. Additionally, she also served as the finance chair during de Blasio's mayoral campaign.De Blasio's large committee not only has a lot of celebrity appeal and star power, but it also represents the diversity the mayor-elect said he hopes to bring to City Hall and to the city of New York."This was a victory built from the grassroots, and our inauguration will be held in that same spirit - an inauguration for all New Yorkers," de Blasio said in a statement."For us, it's not just about bringing people to City Hall.
